THE CAPTAIN OF MY SOUL
( Equipped and Ready)
by Larry Buss
As I allow Jesus, the Captain of my soul to be in charge, I march
victorious, free, empowered, and confidently in and by His Spirit.
In Jesus name I will not allow anything whatsoever to hinder, hamper,
sidetrack, derail, or distract me from my Lord’s purposes and plans for
me. I never walk alone. "For He has said, I will never leave you, nor
forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5).
When He calls me to a task, He equips and enables to fulfill it, provisioning
me in every aspect to faithfully obey His perfect will and ways. "For the
Lord God will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have
I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed" (Isaiah 50:7).
I’m standing strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. The battle
is too real, severe, and of eternal import; so I must draw a line in the sand,
refusing to give even an inch to satan. Thus, I place my foot on the necks of the
enemies of my soul, declaring that they no longer have a strangle-hold on me
today or ever again. Jesus died for me; no one else did. I live for Him. I love
by and through Him. I obey Him and Him alone. He is the Captain of my soul.
I surrender my flesh to the spirit man. As I daily choose to submit my mind, will,
and emotions to the Holy Spirit’s perfection in me, my words, actions, thoughts,
and reactions reflect and demonstrate the abundant life of Christ. I reckon
myself to be dead indeed to sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ my
Lord. For sin shall not have dominion over me (Romans 6:11,14).
"What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against
us? He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall
He not with Him freely give us all things" (Romans 8:31-32)? With God all things
I am strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Nothing and no one
will detour me from experiencing my Lord’s love or from doing His will and
purposes in this life here and now. And since my battle is not against flesh
and blood, but is indeed a spiritual one, I refuse to listen to or heed the negative,
hurtful, embittered, selfish, and pride-ridden voices of this flesh-driven world.
I am not overcome of evil, but I overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21).
I only hear and obey the voice of my Savior, my Life, my Light, and the
Shepherd, Overseer, and Captain of my soul!
